Orissa International assisted a foreign mission in Malaysia in developing a database of training providers and institutions offering executive development programs in the country. We identified and profiled 21 high-end training providers and institutions in Malaysia and contacted them for evaluating their interest in partnering with a Canada-based peer. Through this engagement, the client not only obtained contact details and profiles of relevant Malaysian training organizations, but also gained a better understanding of the local demand and areas of interest, insights that it can share with the training providers and institutions in Canada.

Market Study on Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vietnam

Orissa International conducted a market study on the potential for the products of a Singapore-based Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) manufacturer in Vietnam. Our in-country analysts looked at the overall traditional medicine sector and the positioning of TCM products. They also interviewed retailers and distributors to understand market trends and identify suitable distribution channels. In addition, the report provided information on the regulatory classification of the client's products and the registration procedure and requirements for selling in the Vietnam market.

Market Research on Contract Manufacturing Services for Beverages in Vietnam

The client is a leading Singapore-based manufacturer of fruit juice concentrates and cordials, and coffee premixes. The company operates in the B2B market, supplying its products in bulk to food stalls, restaurants, hotels and event venues. It also offers OEM and ODM beverage manufacturing services to meet the customized requirements of restaurants and for supermarkets looking to develop house brand products. The client is seeking market entry into Vietnam for a market research and business matching project. The market study covered the beverage retail sector, focusing on market trends and the prevalence of house brands in supermarket chains. It also analyzed the food service sector and looked at beverage manufacturers in Vietnam from the perspective of potential competitors, as well as partners. Detailed information was provided on product registration and labeling requirements and import tariffs. The market research is being followed up with the arrangement of business meetings for the client with distributors of food products and ingredients to the food service and beverage manufacturing sectors.

Canadian Companies Participate in the Singapore Airshow

Orissa International arranged a total of 57 one-on-one meetings for eight Canadian companies from the province of Ontario who were exhibiting at the Singapore Airshow 2020. The Ontario companies offer a diverse range of aerospace sector products and services, including aviation cybersecurity software and hardware platforms, construction of gas turbine engine test facilities and turnkey aircraft modification services for special mission applications such as ISR (Intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance). We set up onsite meetings at the event, as well as offsite meetings with distributors and different end-users, such as airlines, MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) players in Singapore, airframe manufacturers and government agencies.

US-based Global Medical Products Company Explores Malaysia

Orissa International assisted a US-based manufacturer and distributor of patented therapies for scar management, advanced wound care, post-procedure bruising and swelling, skin care and surgical solutions in their goal of connecting with potential distributors in Malaysia. We identified potential distributors and partners, prequalified them and connected those companies to our client via email. The distributors that we contacted were involved in selling medical, aesthetic, and skin care products. They also represent several aesthetic brands and have established relationships with pharmacies and drug stores and medical specialists such as plastic and cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, obstetricians and gynecologists, orthopedic surgeons and burn centers.

US-based Distillery Company Takes Interest in Thailand

Orissa International assisted a single malt whiskey distiller based in the US in identifying potential buyers in Thailand. The client aims to ship their whiskey in bulk for mixing or bottling in the Thailand market. We identified whiskey manufacturers in the market that import whiskey in bulk or are engaged in local mixing/bottling of whiskey and then we introduced our client to them via emails.

Mapping the Automotive Manufacturing Supply Chain in Thailand and Vietnam

Orissa International delivered customized in-depth studies of the automotive manufacturing industries in Thailand and Vietnam to a tier-2 automotive component supplier from Michigan in the US. The report prepared using a combination of desktop research and interviews with market players covered general industry trends and insights and analyzed the supply chain. The focus was on interior systems including seating, instrument panels, overhead and floor consoles and door panels; and vision systems such as mirror assemblies, back-up cameras and sensors. We identified automotive OEMs and tier-1 suppliers with local manufacturing operations who could be potential customers for the client. The report also provided an overview of the competitive landscape by profiling relevant tier-2 suppliers in the two countries.

Opportunities in the ICT sector in Singapore and Thailand

Orissa International conducted a market study on ICT sector developments and opportunities in Singapore and Thailand for EU Business Avenues. The EU Business Avenues in South East Asia program is an initiative funded by the European Union to help European companies establish business collaborations in the region through matchmaking and business support services. The report included an overview of information technology (IT) equipment, software and services, as well as telecommunications equipment and services. It covered traditional areas such as IT infrastructure, enterprise software and consulting, along with emerging technology areas such as artificial intelligence, Internet-of-Things (IoT), blockchain, augmented reality/virtual reality.

Irish Live Oysters Company Meets Malaysian Businesses

Orissa International was engaged by an Irish state agency to provide business matching services in Malaysia for an Irish exporter of live oysters. We arranged one-to-one meetings for the client with Malaysian distributors who are selling live oysters to the food service sector, hotels and restaurants in addition to grocery stores that sell gourmet seafood and those that have oyster bar restaurants.

Singapore Glass and Mirror Supplier Visits Indonesia

Orissa International arranged customized business meetings in Indonesia for a Singapore-based distributor of a wide variety of specialty glass, including security glass, fire-rated glass, radiation shielding glass and thermochromic glass. During the market visit, we set up a total of nine meetings in Jakarta for the client, with contractors, architects, developers, glass distributors as well as companies involved in security products and systems.

Livestock Farming in Vietnam

Orissa International conducted a study of the livestock farming sector in Vietnam for an export promotion agency of an American state. The agency is going to lead a trade delegation to Vietnam later in 2020 and the report intends to help the participating companies, which are providers of animal farming equipment and supplies, to understand the market. The report provides an overview of the pork, beef, dairy, poultry, egg and animal feed industries, delineating the market structure and identifying key trends and major producers for each. The report highlighted specific opportunities for each participant.

Illinois Trade Mission to Vietnam

Orissa International arranged a trade mission to Vietnam for a delegation of companies from the US state of Illinois. The multi-industry delegation included a chemical, water and wastewater treatment solutions provider, a company involved in machinery and tools for precision engineering, an industrial equipment supplier, an education equipment supplier and a medical equipment company. We set up a total of 23 meetings for these 5 companies with partners, distributors and end-users in Vietnam. In addition, we also assisted 9 universities from Illinois to meet up with local Vietnamese Universities and Colleges as well as Vietnamese education consultants for potential collaboration. For this, we arranged 136 meetings and 2 site visits for the delegation.
