Responding to the challenged of the spread of the COVID-19 and global lockdown, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the government agency tasked with promoting and developing the business tourism sector in Thailand, has recently launched a new “Virtual Meeting Space” project. It provides support for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) entrepreneurs to keep their business alive by running business events online and re-skilling their manpower via virtual platform.
Moreover, another project called “COVID-19 Free Meetings” will support MICE venues to upgrade their safety and health standards. TCEB will provide a subsidy for MICE premises to formulate plans and prepare tools that fit the measures in the screening and prevention of COVID-19 stipulated by the Ministry of Public Health, such as the installation of body temperature monitoring systems and hand-washing points and alcohol dispensers.
Apart from the two projects, TCEB has set up a COVID-19 Information Center which will monitor, compile, examine and assess the current situation, especially the impact of the disease on MICE industry, as well as providing updates on the situation, including government’s rules, regulations and announcements.
