China’s Huawei Technologies and the Thai Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and have revealed plans to provide Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions and 5G technology to Siriraj Public Hospital in the fight against Covid-19. According to the Dean at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, AI technology can help doctors analyze computed tomography (CT) quantification results of infection cases with high accuracy.
An AI-assisted solution based on Huawei cloud technology is co-developed by Huawei and HY Medical, a Chinese enterprise that focuses on AI medical industry, using medical imaging through artificial intelligence. The AI technology leverages the computer vision and medical image analysis to segment multiple pulmonary ground glass opacities (GGOs) and lung consolidation and make quantitative evaluations through CTs of patients’ lungs.
A further example of the use of ICT solutions is represented by King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, which is now using Thailand’s first automated COVID-19 test system. The automated test system is 99% accurate and has received the US FDA approval. It can compute up to 1,440 samples per day, with results coming back within 3-5 hours during the initial phase.
