Databricks Establishes Singapore as its Asia Pacific Hub

Sep 2024

Databricks has officially established Singapore as its regional headquarters for the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, with plans to expand its workforce in the country significantly. In collaboration with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), Databricks will add critical roles in areas such as field engineering, professional services, learning and enablement, strategy, and operations. This expansion reinforces Singapore’s role as a key technology hub, supported by its vibrant AI ecosystem and robust digital infrastructure. By deepening its presence in Singapore, Databricks aims to contribute to the city-state’s AI industry development and foster stronger digital innovation in the region.

As part of its growth in Singapore, Databricks is also focusing on advancing the country’s AI skills and workforce capabilities in alignment with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0. The company has partnered with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), NTUC LearningHub, and NUS ICT Academy to launch initiatives to upskill over 10,000 individuals in data and AI over the next three years. These partnerships will offer advanced training and certifications, equipping both new and existing data and AI practitioners with the necessary skills to meet the growing demand for data intelligence solutions. By investing in local talent development, Databricks is helping to ensure that Singapore remains at the forefront of AI and data technology.

At the Data + AI World Tour event held in Singapore, which saw over 1,000 data professionals in attendance, Databricks highlighted real-life use cases from prominent organizations such as Grab, GovTech, Central Provident Fund Board, and Suntory Beverage & Food. The event, part of a global series, showcased Databricks’ Data Intelligence Platform, which enables organizations to securely manage data, train AI models, and unlock the full value of their data. With demand for data intelligence solutions growing across the region, Databricks’ continued expansion in Singapore is set to drive digital transformation and help local companies thrive in the data-driven economy.
