KLA, a global leader in semiconductor equipment and services, has completed the first phase of its USD 200 million expansion in Singapore, unveiling a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The Phase 1 building, spanning 200,000 square feet, includes advanced cleanroom spaces – a 46,000-square-foot Class 100 cleanroom and a 12,000-square-foot Class 10K cleanroom – designed to meet stringent standards for vibration control and process cleanliness. This facility strengthens KLA’s role as a key manufacturing and engineering hub in the region, catering to the growing demand for semiconductor process control solutions.
The second phase of the facility, expected to be completed by 2026, will further expand the site to 420,000 square feet, adding more cleanroom and research and development (R&D) space. The expansion will also create an estimated 400 new jobs, increasing KLA’s local workforce by 30%. This growth aligns with Singapore’s strategic goal of expanding its manufacturing sector’s value-add by 50% by 2030, positioning the country as a critical global node in the semiconductor supply chain.
KLA’s investment reflects its long-term commitment to developing Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem, with a focus on nurturing highly skilled local talent. As of 2023, the company has conducted 15,000 training sessions to support the development of niche industry skills. By integrating advanced manufacturing capabilities and fostering innovation, KLA’s expanded presence will contribute to Singapore’s goal of becoming a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing and innovation.
