The provinces of Phu Tho and Binh Phuoc recently proposed to the Ministry of Information and Communications to develop 5G in their areas.
The Vietnam Telecommunications Authority (VNTA) responded that the ministry will study and license mobile businesses to deploy 5G, prioritizing industrial parks, high-tech parks, and information technology to focus on implementing innovative digital technologies. The ministry suggested that provinces work with mobile businesses in their areas.
The Ministry of Information and Communications has granted licenses to major carriers, including Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone to test commercial 5G services from November 2020. Telecommunication enterprises in the country plan to initially deploy 5G in big cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and then Bac Ninh.
