Vietnam to Have the Largest Gene Decoding Center in Southeast Asia

Nov 2021

In October 2021, Vietnam’s National Innovation Center (NIC) signed an agreement with Genetica to build Southeast Asia’s largest gene decoding center in Vietnam, which is expected to be inaugurated before the end of 2021.

The new gene decoding center in the country will be able to decode up to 500,000 gene packs annually, meeting the same high standards as its American counterparts while adhering to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to ensure the most precise results. This is expected to lead to reduce experiment costs and waiting time to less than 30 days and will respond to the growing demand for gene testing not only in Vietnam but throughout the region.

Moreover, it will serve as a research facility for the application of gene decoding in the healthcare sector, through strategic cooperation with several large national and international medical institutes, such as Harvard Medical School, Hue Central Hospital, the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Tam Duc Hospital, and Hanoi Medical University Hospital. The research collaborations are expected to discover genetic diseases and formulate a new treatment plan employing gene therapy.
