Ribbon Communications, an American provider of real-time communications technology and IP optical networking solutions, recently announced that it is providing Interlink Telecom Public Company Ltd (ITEL), a leading Thai network services provider, with a Data Center Interconnect solution using an Apollo optical networking platform. Ribbon Communications aims to become Thailand’s biggest and most reliable network, and its fiber optic network already covers 75 provinces.
The solution from Ribbon leverages the flexibility of the Apollo 9901X access OTN switch to map multiple data center services onto high-speed DCI links under software control. The solution is deployed for L1 business services because, rather than mapping multiple colored interfaces onto a ring using muxponders, each of which would require engineering, it allows the support of all services on a single 100G wavelength.
The CEO of ITEL recently declared that Ribbon exceeded the Thai company’s expectations and paved the way for new tight timeframe projects, highlighting how Ribbon’s fast delivery enabled ITEL to deploy its service on time. Ribbon announced that it intends to further build on this relationship with ITEL over the coming years.
