The Italian infrastructure monitoring leader Nplus, part of the Giordano Riello International (GRIG) group, has signed an agreement in Bangkok with Thailand’s Railway Technology Research and Development Agency (RTRDA). This collaboration will bring Nplus’s advanced monitoring technologies to Thailand’s railway infrastructure, aimed at enhancing safety and technological advancement in the sector. The memorandum of understanding, signed by Nplus CEO Giordano Riello and RTRDA director Julateph Kajornchaiyakul, marks a pivotal step toward implementing Italy’s infrastructure expertise in Thailand, facilitated by the support of the Italian government and Ambassador Paolo Dionisi.
Nplus will initiate the first monitoring project on a Thai bridge by Christmas, installing Italian-made sensors to assess structural integrity. This pilot project will serve as the basis for a broader infrastructure monitoring initiative, potentially covering hundreds of Thai bridges, including critical cross-border connections with Laos and Cambodia. Future efforts will expand through collaborations with Thai universities to train local PhD students, fostering a skilled workforce to support Nplus’s operations.
Nplus, headquartered in Rovereto, has rapidly internationalized, with branches in Toronto and Mexico City and an expanding presence in Southeast Asia. The company achieved a 10.8 million euro turnover in 2023, with projections for significant growth in 2024. Nplus’s parent group GRIG also saw success, with a turnover of EUR 680 million (USD 737 million) in 2023. Ambassador Dionisi praised Nplus as an example of Italian innovation and its potential impact on fast-growing markets in the Indo-Pacific region.
