German automotive parts manufacturing company Continental is expanding its tire plant in Rayong, Thailand, increasing production by three million units per year through a EUR 300 million (USD 325 million) investment. Supported by Thailand’s Board of Investment under the Investment Stimulation Measure for Economic Recovery, this expansion will create around 600 additional jobs, adding to the plant’s current workforce of over 900 employees. The initiative reflects Continental’s strategic focus on growth in the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to meet local and regional demand more effectively.
The Rayong facility produces high-quality tires, including the MaxContact MC7 and models designed for electric vehicles, and is one of Continental’s largest motorcycle tire production sites globally. Plant manager Vignesh Devasenapathy credited the plant’s success to the team’s dedication to customer commitments. The facility, which meets rigorous energy efficiency standards, is highly automated and uses advanced production technology. A photovoltaic system with a 6.7-megawatt peak capacity covers 13% of the plant’s annual electricity needs, contributing to sustainable production through renewable energy.
This expansion underscores Continental’s long-term commitment to Thailand and the broader Asia-Pacific market, enhancing its ability to serve customers in the region while advancing environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
