Central Retail, Thailand’s leading retailer, inaugurated its 40th GO! mall in Ha Nam province on Saturday. The 1.4-hectare facility, which required an investment of VND 309 billion (approximately USD 12.6 million), began construction in July 2023. During the opening ceremony, Ha Nam Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Vuong expressed that the new mall reflects Central Retail’s strong confidence in the province’s investment climate.
The mall is expected to enhance retail activities in the region, particularly in the agricultural sector, and create numerous job opportunities for local residents. Central Retail Vietnam CEO Olivier Langlet emphasized the company’s commitment to modernizing the retail landscape, especially regarding food supply chains in the area.
Ha Nam is recognized as a key manufacturing hub in northern Vietnam, alongside other major cities such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Bac Ninh.
Central Retail has been actively involved in fostering trade relations between Vietnam and Thailand. In July 2024, the company organized a four-day program that showcased unique Vietnamese products through Central Retail Vietnam. The initiative aims to enhance collaboration between businesses and distributors, broaden market access, and make products more accessible to consumers.
Thailand ranks as the ninth-largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with a total of 735 projects amounting to USD 14 billion. In the first half of 2024, trade between the two nations reached an estimated USD 9.5 billion, with Vietnam’s exports to Thailand valued at USD 3.9 billion.
