French industrial group Seche Environnement has reached an agreement to acquire Singapore’s ECO Industrial Environmental Engineering for approximately SGD 605 million (USD 465 million). This acquisition marks a significant move for Seche Environnement as it expands its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region, leveraging ECO’s established position in Singapore’s hazardous waste recovery and treatment market, holding a 32% market share. The acquisition aligns with Seche Environnement’s strategy to drive profitable growth and enhance its regional operations.
ECO Industrial Environmental Engineering, established in 1997 and owned by Beijing Capital Eco-Environment Protection Group, is a major waste management provider in Singapore. The company operates from a 7-hectare site at Tuas View Circuit, equipped with advanced facilities and a fleet of over 40 waste collection vehicles. ECO serves a wide range of industries, including petrochemical, pharmaceutical, aerospace, and marine, with a staff of more than 260 employees providing specialized waste management services.
ECO is fully licensed by Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) as a Toxic Industrial Waste Collector and General Waste Collector and holds certifications such as ISO14001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001. These credentials reflect ECO’s commitment to environmental protection, health and safety management, and sustainable development, making it a valuable asset for Seche Environnement as it seeks to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific waste management market.
