WHA Corporation, Thailand’s leading developer of built-to-suit logistics facilities, is increasing its investment in artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance its green logistics business and transition towards becoming a technology company. In 2024, the company plans to invest THB 60 million (USD 1.8 million) in AI technology, aiming to boost business efficiency. According to Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, group chief executive and chairman of WHA’s executive committee, this move is part of a broader transformation under a strategic roadmap initiated in 2021, with a total investment budget of THB 160 million (USD 4.7 million).
The focus is on AI and data analytics to support operations and develop innovative products and services. During the Techsauce Global Summit in Bangkok, WHA introduced its Mobilix software, designed to improve management of electric vehicles (EVs) and batteries, aligning with the company’s goal to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through green logistics. This software has already contributed to the company’s revenue.
WHA is also preparing to form a joint venture with a US tech company in the second half of the 2024, following efforts by Thai officials to attract American business investment. The joint venture aligns with WHA’s strategy to expand its technological capabilities and support the expansion of American tech firms in Thailand.
Additionally, WHA plans to replace oil-powered vehicles at its industrial estates with electric vehicles, targeting an increase to 10,000 EVs in the long term. The focus on electric trucks, pickups, and passenger cars is part of WHA’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions, in line with Thailand’s national goals of carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero emissions by 2065.
