CIMIC Group subsidiary Leighton Asia has secured a contract from PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, for the reconstruction of Choa Chu Kang Waterworks. The project is projected to bring in about SGD 144 million (USD 106.3 million) for Leighton Asia. Choa Chu Kang Waterworks, Singapore’s second-largest water treatment facility, has a capacity of 80 million gallons per day. This crucial project will significantly enhance Singapore’s long-term water infrastructure. The company expects to apply innovative and cost-effective delivery methods to support Singapore’s ongoing development.
The contract covers mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) work, along with related building services, civil and temporary works, services diversion, testing, commissioning, and proving of the new plant. It also involves associated building services, civil and temporary works, service diversions, as well as the testing, commissioning, and proving of the reconstructed plant. Integrating the latest water treatment technology and smart features at Choa Chu Kang Waterworks will enhance the facility’s operations. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2024 and finish by 2028.
