Japanese cosmetics giant Kao is ramping up its global presence by opening the flagship store of the British luxury fragrance brand Molton Brown in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This launch is a joint partnership with Valiram, Southeast Asia’s premier luxury and lifestyle distribution group.
Situated in the Exchange TRX Mall, the flagship store marks Molton Brown’s debut in the region and is a strategic move to bolster its omnichannel presence in Malaysia. Mark Johnson, President of Kao’s cosmetics business AEMEA and Global President of Molton Brown, highlighted the region’s growth potential, citing the brand’s strong resonance with consumers seeking high-quality, innovative, and sustainable products.
Molton Brown is adopting an omnichannel approach to deliver an unparalleled customer experience across various platforms, including e-commerce, wholesale, travel retail, and standalone stores. To strengthen its foothold in Malaysia, the company plans to launch an e-commerce platform and expand its premium hotel amenities range. This expansion aligns with the concept of a “Molton Brown Village,” a successful brand promotion strategy already implemented in Japan. Following its entry into Malaysia, Molton Brown aims to extend its business-to-consumer operations to Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong in 2024, with further plans to venture into Indonesia and Macau.
