Sunway Group, one of Malaysia’s largest property conglomerates, has announced plans for the Sunway Ipoh Mall, which will become the biggest shopping center in Perak upon its completion in 2027. The project is expected to cost more than MYR 1 billion (USD 222 million) and located in Sunway City Tambun.
Tthe mall will cover over one million square feet of net lettable area across four retail floors. Designed to harmonize with Tambun’s natural landscape, the Sunway Ipoh Mall will host over 500 retail outlets, featuring both international and local brands. The project will feature various attractions, including Perak’s first ice-skating rink, an exhibition center, a 36-lane bowling alley, a multipurpose sports center, a gourmet garden, and a 10-hall cinema with a seating capacity of around 1,500. The mall is anticipated to create around 5,000 job opportunities for locals, contributing significantly to the region’s economy.
Strategically located with convenient access from the North-South Expressway, visitors can reach the mall within five minutes of exiting at Tambun. This development is part of the ongoing expansion of Sunway City Ipoh, which already includes a theme park, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, residential areas, and commercial components. Sunway Group is also planning further developments in the area, including a world-class hospital set to open next year, a regional education hub, a new hotel, and a state-of-the-art convention center. The company currently operates several malls across Malaysia, including Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Velocity in Kuala Lumpur, and has additional mall projects underway in Ipoh, Port Klang, Selangor, and Kuala Lumpur.
