Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo, the cargo subsidiary of Malaysia Aviation Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaborative cargo operations. This agreement follows an expanded codeshare arrangement between the two OneWorld partners in 2022, aimed at enhancing connectivity for passengers.
Since initiating their codeshare cooperation in 2004, Qatar Airways and Malaysia Airlines have significantly expanded their partnership, now covering 62 codeshare destinations across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. By leveraging each other’s strengths, this strategic cooperation will integrate freighter and belly-hold networks, enhancing their cargo service offerings and operational capabilities. This collaboration not only improves product offerings but also reinforces their positions in the global cargo market.
MASkargo customers will gain access to Qatar Airways Cargo’s extensive global network, while Qatar Airways Cargo customers will benefit from increased access to the Asia-Pacific market, including new destinations and expanded capacity at existing locations. The partnership will utilize Hamad International Airport (DOH) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as key hubs to serve their combined network. Additionally, Qatar Airways Cargo’s forthcoming expansion of handling capabilities at its new Cargo Terminal in Doha will further facilitate this collaboration.
