Goyo Food Industry Co, a Japanese frozen confectionery maker, has decided to start producing frozen cakes in Thailand, in partnership with a domestic manufacturer, to answer growing demand from local consumers.
This will be the first time that the company based in Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture, offshores its production to serve a local market, producing its frozen cakes at a factory of Srifa Frozen Foods Co, in the west of Bangkok. The cakes will be supplied to convenience stores, café chains and hotels, among other businesses in Thailand.
Goyo previously distributed its products in Thailand though a commercial agreement with Srifa started in 2014, but shipments were stopped as the prices were too high for the Thai market. The Japanese company has thus decided to share its expertise in specifications and recipes for frozen cakes with its Thai partner in order to enable local production.
Under the arrangement, Goyo Food Industry has the rights to supply locally produced frozen cakes to its own sales channels in Thailand and also export to overseas markets
