American corporation Honeywell has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesian aerospace manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to improve mission readiness for the Indonesian Armed Forces. The agreement, signed at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington in November 2023, strengthens the two bodies’ cooperation activities.
The MoU outlines several projects, including the localization of Honeywell component maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Indonesia across multiple platforms. Additionally, the parties will provide refit, modification, and upgrade alternatives for worldwide clients. The two companies expressed interest in exploring the development of a viable aerospace product supply chain in Indonesia.
Honeywell’s Defence and Aerospace President emphasized the importance of this agreement, highlighting the progress of this cooperation since it began in 2015. Honeywell expects the MoU to strengthen the Indonesian military sector, particularly in maintenance services, part upgrades, and manufacturing.
The strategic partnership allows PTDI to advance Indonesia’s aerospace sector and become a major MRO and aerostructures player in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement is consistent with PTDI’s ambitious aim of generating a commercial value of up to USD 65 million from various Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) over the next five years.
