dsm-firmenich has unveiled two new facilities in Singapore’s Tuas region, strengthening its innovation and manufacturing capabilities within the Asia-Pacific region. Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and representing an investment of nearly SGD 30 million (USD 22.7 million), the FutureBites – Food Design Studio and the Perfumery Automated Compounding Encapsulation (PEACE) Facility will enhance the company’s research, development, and production capabilities in food and fragrance sectors. These additions align with dsm-firmenich’s strategy to address the growing demand for sustainable nutrition, health, and beauty solutions across Asia.
The FutureBites – Food Design Studio is a first-of-its-kind facility in Asia, positioned as both a regional R&D hub and a global center for plant-based foods. It will serve as a platform for dsm-firmenich to accelerate product development for diverse Asian cuisines and taste preferences, with collaborations set up with local research entities like the National University of Singapore (NUS) and A*STAR. Meanwhile, the PEACE Facility, spanning 11,000 square meters, houses dsm-firmenich’s only APAC production site for Popscent, a fragrance encapsulation technology designed for long-lasting scents. This facility aims to meet Asia’s increasing market demands with enhanced manufacturing flexibility and production speed.
Operating as dsm-firmenich’s Asia regional headquarters, Singapore continues to be central to the company’s activities, with 600 employees and 80 innovation experts driving growth and sustainability initiatives. The company’s strategic expansion in Tuas allows it to cater to both local and regional customers across Asia, reinforcing Singapore’s role as a global hub for the flavors and fragrances industry. These new facilities will support dsm-firmenich’s longstanding goal of delivering innovative, sustainable solutions in partnership with its regional customers and stakeholders.
