Sunshine Aerospace Components Factory in Da Nang, a new manufacturing facility for US firm Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC), started operations on 31 March 2020. UAC is one of the world’s leading producers of hard alloy extrusions, supplying aerospace companies such as Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, Bombardier, and their associated supply chains. The company employs more than 1,200 people at three manufacturing facilities, in the US, Romania and China.
The Da Nang factory involved a USD 170 million investment and is built up in an area of 16.7 hectares. Phase 1 of Sunshine Factory will produce aerospace parts to export to the international markets. By 2021 and 2022, the factory is expected to reach export values of USD 25 million and 82 million respectively. Its markets mainly are the European Union, Malaysia and North America. Through Phase 2, the firm will expand the production of aviation parts and raw materials to reach export value of more than USD 180 million by 2026.
