Singapore Launches Joint Call for Innovation Projects with Seven Countries

Jul 2019

Enterprise Singapore, together with agencies from seven EUREKA countries, officially opened a joint call for innovation projects on 9 July through the EUREKA GlobalStars program, a multilateral initiative to enhance access to funding for research and innovation. The program aims to facilitate international R&D and innovation cooperation between EUREKA countries, including associated countries, and non-EUREKA partner countries.

Enterprise Singapore is the Singapore government agency championing enterprise development and helping local companies to build capabilities, innovate and internationalize. Launched in 1985, EUREKA is a decentralized network involving over 40 countries that offers project partners access to skills and expertise across Europe and national public and private funding schemes. EUREKA’s aim is to enhance European competitiveness by fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship in Europe, between small and large industry, research institutes and universities.

This joint call marks Singapore’s first partnership with EUREKA. The EUREKA countries participating in this call are Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom (UK). The joint call aims to catalyze cross-border collaboration between companies from Singapore and these seven countries in research and innovation, helping them to co-innovate and create solutions to capture rising opportunities in Asia and Europe. It is open to companies from all sectors. Medical Technology, Smart Mobility and Logistics, and Advanced Manufacturing have been identified as key sectors.

Participants will be supported through business matching and funding. To qualify for funding support, the project consortium must involve at least one company from Singapore and a company from any other participating country. The project partners must collaborate on an R&D project leading to a new product, industrial process or service. The call for proposals will close on 26 September 2019
