Prudential Introduces AI-Powered Health Mobile App in Malaysia

Sep 2019

Prudential Corporation Asia has introduced Pulse, an all-in-one digital app with Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered health information. Officially unveiled on 12 August, Pulse was first launched in Malaysia in March 2019 and will be available in ten other markets across the region.

Pulse learns from the data it receives and the user interactions with all partners and services, continuously improving its ability to help customers lead healthier and improved lives. The introduction of Pulse is in line with Prudential’s ambition of enabling all Malaysians to take control of their health as well as the Malaysian government’s efforts to make healthcare more affordable and accessible to all Malaysians. This also marks an expansion of Prudential’s role beyond providing pure health protection to working with customers to manage their healthcare.

The app features complementary health and wellness services from global and local providers including UK-based Babylon (symptom checker and health assessment) and Tictrac (personalized wellness services) and Malaysia-based DoctorOnCall (online consultation) and AIME (dengue outbreak predictor).

CEO of Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad Philip Seah stated that as Prudential’s oldest market in Asia, Malaysia was chosen as the first market to introduce the app, as the country has a high mobile penetration and smartphone usage rates. Malaysian Minister of Health Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad who attended the event commented that Pulse is a great example of public and private collaboration that can empower people to be more proactive, preventive and promotive in managing their own health, especially in relation to the alarming rates of non-communicable diseases in the country.
