The newest aircraft under the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Modernization Program was formally received by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and Department of National Defense (DND).
The latest acquisition is a C-295M #177 aircraft manufactured by Spain’s Airbus Defense and Space division and is part of the command-and-control fixed-wing turboprop acquisition project. The PHP 1.8 billion (USD 35.4 million) aircraft will be mainly utilized for transporting personnel, troops and logistical supplies for military operation, humanitarian assistance, rescue operation and disaster response. It can also be used to transport the President and other Philippine officials.
This will be the fourth C-295 aircraft in the PAF and they are expecting another command-and-control aircraft, the Gulfstream G280, by August next year.
