Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the local subsidiary of Nippon Express Co, Ltd, a Japanese global logistics company, has completed the construction of its new logistics center in Shah Alam, the state capital of Selangor. The logistics center is regarded as the group’s most extensive single-structure multifunctional logistics warehouse outside of Japan and has started operations on 9 March 2020.
The company has been planning to obtain halal certification for the center, to meet the needs for the growing global halal market. Accordingly, an area for ritually cleansing trucks and cargo containers has been incorporated within the facility.
Located in Shah Alam Industrial Park, the logistics center is close to Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur and ideally situated as a logistics hub with easy access to Malaysia’s main sea and air gateway, Port Klang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The center will be leveraged to meet a full range of logistics needs such as domestic sales logistics for consumer goods, Manufacturing logistics (just-in-time or JIT delivery), vendor-managed inventory (VMI), temperature-controlled storage using air-conditioned facilities, and storage/delivery of halal products. Its bonded warehouse functions will enable non-resident inventory to be stored allowing the center to serve as a hub for Asia and the Middle East.
