Healthcare Tech Outlook, an international healthcare technology print and digital magazine, has named Medgate Philippines as one of the top ten companies at the forefront of telehealth solutions in the Asia Pacific. Healthcare Tech Outlook underscored Medgate Philippines as an important player in the industry and cited its contribution and impact on the healthcare industry.
According to the publication, since Medgate Philippines’ launched in 2016, it has served over 1.5 million patients, with a roster of doctors in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, and OB Gynecology among other specialties – allowing for patients to get a holistic form of care. Medgate Philippines is also one of the official telemedicine partners of the Department of Health (DOH). The partnership was forged during enhanced community quarantine and Medgate handled nearly 70,000 calls from patients all over the nation, at no cost to either the caller or DOH.
According to DOH, the present doctor-to-patient ratio in the Philippines is 1:33,000. Telemedicine is being touted as a measure that can be adopted to ensure that every Filipino has access to immediate medical care. It can significantly improve the quality of healthcare by increasing accessibility and efficiency while eliminating geographic barriers and reducing costs.
