Decathlon, the world’s largest sports retailer, and SM Supermalls, the Philippines’ largest mall developer, consolidated their partnership with further Decathlon store openings at key SM shopping malls – SM City North Edsa in Quezon City and SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. Both these locations are hubs for multisport lovers within the Metro. More stores are planned in the next two years as part of Decathlon’s expansion plans.
In a statement, Decathlon’s CEO revealed that they will also launch a fresher and more digital “City” concept, where it will make its sports products accessible through digital and omni-channel features. The CEO also shared that the company will continue to develop digital solutions to make its products accessible and propose faster shopping through self-checkout and RFID technology. Bundled with these digital solutions will be classic services like click and collect, free membership and free product testing.
Decathlon and SM Supermalls are also both committed towards positive social and environmental impact. Examples include both their focus on waste collection and management. in 2020, Decathlon launched an initiative with the Plastic Flamingo to create waste collection centers in Decathlon, a concept that is expected to be replicated in the upcoming store opening in SM Malls.
