KPJ Healthcare, leading healthcare group in Malaysia announced MYR 200 million (USD 47.95 million) expansion plans, including a new hospital tower for KPJ Tawakkal Specialist Hospital (KPJ TSH) and the recruitment of Medical consultants. The tower will have 17 floors and is expected to house an extra 120 hospital beds with increased services – the current facility is at 70% capacity.
The hospital is looking for a 10% revenue increase this year to reach RM 220 million (USD 52.75 million) and a return of investment from the tower within four years. According to KPJ TSH’s CEO, the new tower will increase the hospital’s capacity to 320 patients at one time. Currently, the hospital treats approximately 177,000 patients a year with the majority covering orthopedic cases.
The hospital is also looking to expand its number of patients, and leverage on Medical tourism activities and offerings to grow the number of international patients from 7 to 15%.
