It has recently been announced that a flagship store for Japanese furniture and home furnishings giant Nitori will be opened by Thai real estate company Central Pattana at the CentralWorld mall in August 2023. CentralWorld is located in the heart of Bangkok, where around 600,000 visitors per day visit the area. The mall features well-known brands from both Thailand and overseas.
The Nitori flagship store will cover more than 2,600 square meters of retail space on the mall’s fifth level. There are also plans to open a second branch at Central Westgate during the fourth quarter of 2024.
In addition to Thailand, Nitori also announced plans to expand in the Philippines in 2023, and the company was reported to be looking at other potential markets in the Southeast Asian region, such as Vietnam.
In 2022, Nitori opened its first stores in Beijing as part of a long-planned push to grow its presence in China. The Japanese giant’s strategy focuses on targeting major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
Nitori currently operates more than 800 locations in Japan and overseas, with aggressive plans to expand to 3,000 by 2032. Its operations are also expanding in Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
