Jul 2024

The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) is embarking in a cooperation with the Australian livestock company Austrex to enhance the governance of Indonesia’s livestock business sector. The Deputy for Entrepreneurship at Kemenkop UKM aims for this collaboration with Austrex to significantly improve livestock industry governance and foster the development of entrepreneurial potential and industry sustainability in Indonesia.

The Deputy sees an opportunity to adopt Austrex’s livestock industry business model in Indonesia. She emphasizes the pivotal role of the livestock sector in advancing global food security, with a particular focus on Indonesia’s needs. Implementing Austrex’s strategies could enhance domestic food security and strengthen Indonesia’s agricultural sector overall.

The Deputy also encouraged local breeders throughout Indonesia to join cooperatives to advance the livestock sector. She conveyed optimism about future collaboration with Austrex, asserting that this synergy could significantly contribute to achieving food security objectives and boosting the national entrepreneurship ratio. By integrating local breeders into cooperatives and leveraging Austrex’s expertise, the livestock industry in Indonesia could see substantial growth and improved sustainability.

Austrex, with a 50-year history in the global market, is now one of the largest live livestock export companies worldwide. It operates in various countries, including Russia, China, the United States, Uruguay, Turkey, and New Zealand.
