German adhesive tape manufacturer, tesa, will build a USD 60.3 million plant in a 70,000 m2 site in DEEP C Industrial Zones, an industrial park cluster in Hai Phong port city in Northern Vietnam. The output from this factory is meant to address regional demand.
tesa SE is a global leading manufacturer of technical adhesive tapes and self-adhesive system solutions for industrial and commercial clients, and end users. Currently, tesa operates 14 production sites worldwide, including large plants in Germany, Italy, the USA, and China.
Production will start in 2023 with approximately 140 employees in the first phase. The new plant in Vietnam creates the necessary capacity to ensure its growth targets as an alternative for a plant in Suzhou, China which will reach its full capacity in 2025 notwithstanding expansion. From Suzhou, tesa supplies, several high-tech tapes for electronic devices, for example, to glue components and displays in mobile phones and tablets.
For the manufacturing facility in Vietnam, tesa is also investing in sustainability: 65% of the production volume will be made with solvent-free, water-based adhesives. For the plant planning, the company strives for certification according to the internationally recognized “LEED Gold Standard”. Among other things, the use of solar energy and rainwater treatment are planned.
