HyalRoute Group, through its subsidiary Philippine Fiber Optic Cable Network, will invest up to USD 2 billion for laying out shared fiber optic cables throughout the country, to be built in the next 10 years. This forms part of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)’s Free Public Wi-Fi Network to reach the unserved and underserved areas in the country.
The DICT will provide assistance to PFOCN in procuring the needed permits and licenses for the successful implementation of this initiative.
HyalRoute, which is a Singaporean provider of shared communication fiber network, will offer its network for rent to telcos, internet service providers, and cable TV operators which have little to no access in rural areas. Preferential rates will be granted to the government for its Free WiFi and National Broadband Program.
