In August 2021, Vietnam inaugurated the Telehealth platform, which facilitates connections of all health centers nationwide, from district hospitals to those at the national level, and the launch of the National Technology Center for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.
The platform is an effective solution to provide timely diagnosis and treatment support to help save more patients’ lives, reduce the burden on upper-level hospitals, and curb the transmission of coronavirus. Most significantly, it applies a uniform technology across the country, which allows for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
According to the Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, “All district health centers in Vietnam have been connected to central hospitals in one platform. Not many countries could achieve this. Live transmission on Telehealth in a network of national health centers is the industry’s dream for decades.”
According to doctors, this solution will help timely diagnosis and treatment and ease overloads at central-level hospitals while reducing contact between patients and doctors during the pandemic. Telehealth will also help doctors in remote areas deal with serious medical cases.
Vietnam has also debuted the National Technology Center for COVID-19 prevention and fight. The facility has brought together about 1,000 people and 18 digital platforms to manage various stages of the anti-pandemic protocol.
