The UOL Group. one of Singapore’s leading property development companies, will redevelop the Pan Pacific Orchard hotel into a biophilic and zero-waste 347 room hotel. This will be done with the help of a USD 120 million three-year green loan, granted by United Overseas Bank (UOB). Biophilic refers to a design concept that seeks to integrate nature with the built environment.
Sustainable features in the hotel will include sky terraces with rainwater harvesting systems and solar cells to light up the gardens and power the irrigation systems. The food waste management system will also transform kitchen waste into nutrient water for gardens, as well as water dispensers that eliminate the need for plastic bottled water.
The 23-storey hotel is scheduled to be reopened in 2021 and will set a new benchmark for green hospitality including rooms with eco-friendly features and three curated sky terraces with a green replacement ratio of more than 200 per cent.
