Turkish aerospace giant, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), has launched its first engineering and design office in the Southeast Asia region. Located in The Cyberview Futurise campus of Cyberjaya, Selangor state, the office will be conducting joint studies with Malaysian engineers in a variety of areas, including unmanned aerial vehicles, jet trainers, helicopter projects, and global aviation ecosystem modernization programs.
Temel Kotil, President and CEO of Turkish Aerospace stated that its local office would boost ties between the two countries and host key research to help them establish collaborative projects in aviation, space, and defense. Within the scope of joint projects with Malaysia, the company hopes to enhance its knowledge in these domains and boost the global aviation industry. Another collaboration area between TAI and Malaysia’s aerospace sector also includes the construction of Airbus aircraft.
As part of its goal to nurture local talents and develop innovative solutions, Turkish Aerospace has also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) in December 2021 to collaborate on delivering aerospace educational, technical training and applied research programs. The collaboration will focus on programs in areas such as aerospace design and engineering, manufacturing, system integration and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) for both light aircraft and drones, which are in line with the directions of RMK-12 Malaysia Aerospace Industry Development Framework and Malaysia Aerospace Industry Blueprint 2030.
