Sarawak Shell Bhd has appointed Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MHB) as a provider of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services relating to an offshore platform for the Rosmari-Marjoram gas project located off the coast of Sarawak. The works comprise the construction of a wellhead platform, a topside, and a four-legged jacket.
MHB said the project would span over 19 months, and the contract value is approximately less than half a billion ringgit. The project includes the installation of an unmanned platform at a water depth of 140 meters within the SK318 area, off the coast of Bintulu. The platform will be primarily powered by renewable energy, specifically, solar panels. The Rosmari-Marjoram gas project is currently undertaken by Sarawak Shell (the operator of the SK318 Block) and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd. With a design life of 20 years, it will cater for up to 800 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, with start-up targeted in 2026 supplying natural gas to the Petronas LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.
MHB had already started on its sustainability journey by incorporating sustainable practices into the organization’s operations and decision-making. The goal of the program is to support all significant stakeholders, especially Shell and Petronas, in realizing their net zero carbon emission agenda.
