Carbon Governance, a Singaporean green energy project developer, recenlty signed a long-term land leasing agreement with an unknown Indonesian firm for a location in Indonesia that will house a green hydrogen production facility with a daily output of 30,000 kg. The planned plant will be built on Bintan Island and will generate green hydrogen for export to neighboring nations.
The factory will employ electrolysis with power generated by a solar park and serve the neighboring markets, where demand is expected to expand exponentially over the next several decades. The first Southeast Asian exports are planned for the first quarter of 2027.
The feasibility studies have also been completed for the project, and the preliminary engineering design phase is underway. The electrolyzer technology will be chosen in January 2023, with a final investment decision expected in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Carbon Governance predicts that hydrogen will soon become the next primary energy source for countries and that this initiative is the first practical step toward commercializing green hydrogen.
