Last month, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Schneider Electric launched the Sustainability Experience Centre, a one-stop platform aimed at helping Singapore’s SMEs implement green technologies at the workplace. The center is focused on sustainable facilities management and makes use of augmented reality for instant diagnosis, which is then supplemented with contactless and predictive maintenance to improve the overall power efficiency of a venue.
The center also aims to help SMEs identify solutions to optimize power usage and reduce energy consumption, achieved through the use of automation and sensors. This is expected to result in at least 50% energy saving after implementation at workplaces, reducing operating costs and improving competitiveness. It is also expected to help Singapore achieve its goal of having at least 80% of buildings to be green by 2030, based on Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority’s Green Masterplan.
Apart from the Sustainability Experience Centre, NYP and Schneider Electric have also partnered to co-train new future-ready workers to meet the increasing demands to help companies implement a sustainable transport solution, through the use of electric fleets. To date, staff from more than 20 SMEs have been trained on the key skills of managing Electric Vehicles (EVs), including setting up charging systems and processes for these EVs.
