Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) has revealed plans for a USD 150 million investment to construct a second hangar at the Clark International Airport (CIA). This initiative aims to strengthen LTP’s aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities and is being explored in potential collaboration with Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC), according to statements from the Department of Trade and Industry.
The proposed hangar, occupying a two-hectare plot, is designed to complement LTP’s existing 23-hectare facility at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, with a capacity to service two Airbus A380s and the potential to generate 400 employment opportunities during the projected two-year construction phase.
This pronouncement underscores LTP’s plans to expand its footprint in the Philippines, forecasted to create jobs and support the country’s aerospace sector. Likewise, this initiative highlights the Philippine government’s backing for LTP’s current and forthcoming projects, including a plan announced by LTP in October 2023 to invest around USD 15 billion in expanding MRO facilities across Philippine airports.
