PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan (PHKT) have signed confidentiality agreement with Chevron Energy International Pte. Ltd. related to the development of Carbon Captured Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS) in East Kalimantan.
The collaboration between the three subsidiaries of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), a part of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding that manages upstream oil and gas operations, with Chevron, is part of PT Pertamina’s commitment to supporting the realization of its policies regarding the energy transition, the net zero emission target in 2060, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The director of PHM explained that the company is committed to conducting operations involving the exploration and extraction of oil and gas. These operations prioritize safety, compliance, reliability, and environmental friendliness, ensuring the continual provision of energy for society’s needs and contributing to Indonesia’s development. The director added that PHI and its subsidiaries apply best practices in managing operational impacts, highlighting the company’s strategic role in providing sustainable energy in the form of oil and natural gas for Indonesia.
In 2022, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, PHI recorded oil production of 57.8 thousand barrels of oil per day (MBOPD) and gas production of 668.3 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD). In achieving its vision of becoming a world-class oil and gas company, PHI continues to explore various innovations and technological applications.
