Indonesia Signs Preliminary Contract for Two Iver Huitfeldt Frigates

Jul 2020

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense and Danish Odense Maritime Technology, through its Indonesian representative PT Sinar Kokoh Persada, have signed a preamble contract for the delivery of two Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates, in a deal worth USD 720 million. The preliminary contract outlines workshare agreements between the parties once the contract for the first frigate is signed.

The two Iver Huitfeldt that will be delivered are expected to have similar basic design features as the Royal Danish Navy ones, with some variation in exterior design, subsystem layout and sensor, as well as the weapon systems fit.

Once built, the two Iver Huitfeldt-class frigates will be the largest surface combatant ships among the South East Asian countries, excluding Thailand’s aircraft carrier. The frigate displaces at 6,500 tons full load and can reach up to a maximum speed of 28 knots.
