BPPT, the Indonesian Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology, recently signed an MoU with Huawei to strengthen Indonesia’s talent and infrastructure in the digital ecosystem. Key focus areas include artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, and 5G technologies.
According to the MoU, Huawei will facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology to BPPT, while Huawei will have access to information on research in Indonesia. Huawei, a leader in the Chinese telecom industry, has already partnered with over 300 higher education and 900 research institutions from around the world.
The MoU is part of Indonesia’s initiative to realize the country’s digital economy goals by 2035 and its vision to become a developed country by 2045. President Joko Widodo has announced that his administration will allocate IDR 30.5 trillion, or approximately USD 2 billion, of the 2021 state budget to ICT development.
