In September 2021, Italian bicycle manufacturer Vittoria Group announced the construction of a new factory in Thailand. The USD 20 million investment will see the company’s Lion Tires Thailand (LTT) factory premises grow from 36,000 to 52,000 square meters in the Bangpoo industrial district. The plant will employ approximately 400 people. Operations will start within the end of 2022 and the new facilities will allow Vittoria Group to double the total output capacity of tires over the coming years.
The use of solar panels, intelligent climate control, bio & recycled materials and electrical curing will make it the first carbon-neutral factory in the bicycle tire industry. The new facility will be dedicated to the production of premium bicycle tires, used by professional and amateur cyclists around the world. The 16,000-square-meters building will also host product testing and research facilities for the continuous development of technologies to manufacture advanced bicycle tires.
The relationship between Vittoria Group and Thailand is long-lasting. Since the opening of the first factory in Bangkok in 1988 under the name of Lion Tyres Thailand (LTT), it has grown to become the globally leading producer of high-quality bicycle tires. The current operations are spread over five buildings in Bangkok and Rayong.
