An official partnership has been established between AquaEasy and Viet-Uc Group, one of the top shrimp farmers in Vietnam, to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology solutions in local shrimp farms.
Viet-Uc Group will install AquaEasy’s AI systems, i-feeders, and ShrimpTalk in more than 1,000 shrimp ponds as part of the cooperation. As a spin-out from BOSCH’s innovation hub, AquaEasy aims to lessen manual labor and reduce subjective evaluations while increasing production, productivity, and environmental sustainability. The systems of the startup offer precise, real-time data along with alerts and suggestions that are shown through a mobile app. The company claims that its technique, which is presently used commercially in Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam, boosts the productivity of shrimp growers by 30%.
The Vietnamese shrimp business is dominated by thousands of small-scale, family-run farms. The partnership could be a role model for these shrimp farmers to apply smart solutions to increase productivity, profitability, and scalability, according to an AquaEasy representative, who also noted that it is difficult for these farmers to demonstrate environmental sustainability through eco-certification or rating programs since the current tools for such purposes are not suited for small farms.
The first half of 2022 saw a 31% growth in local shrimp exports to USD 2.3 billion compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
