THG, the British online retailer, plans to charter more than 100 flights in cooperation with Singapore Airlines, taking distribution into its own hands instead of relying on passenger flights operating to schedule. THG also announced the launch of its own THG Air, with the purchase and operation of two of its own dedicated cargo planes. THG Air’s cargo planes will start operating out of Manchester Airport from October 2020.
Since the start of 2020, THG has been running successful trials, using dedicated cargo flights to service its global operations, especially across the Asia region. THG Air will be based at the company’s headquarter at Manchester Airport, U.K., with two owned and fully liveried cargo planes. This is in response to both recent unprecedented disruption across the airline industry, and THG’s strong international sales growth. THG Air will form a vital pillar of the THG Ingenuity Service Offering for clients seeking market access in the Asia region.
These developments come as THG continues to expand its global distribution centers. In recent months, THG has opened three new centers opened in the USA., one in Singapore and one in India. A further six overseas distribution centers are planned before the end of the year.
