Bucher Emhart Glass, a subsidiary of Swiss-listed engineering and manufacturing group Bucher Industries AG has announced an investment of MYR 108 million (USD 23 million) to build a manufacturing plant in the Johor state. The facility will produce 10% to 20% of the world’s glass containers upon completion.
Bucher Emhart has appointed AME Elite Consortium Bhd, Malaysia’s industrial space solutions company to build the facility in i-Park@Senai Airport City of Johor. The manufacturing facility will cover 300,000 square feet and is expected to be completed in 2024. This will replace the existing factory at another site in Johor Bahru to increase production capacity.
Through the establishment of the new facility, Bucher Emhart Glass intends to recruit around 150 workers, primarily Malaysians with engineering and technical expertise. The groundbreaking ceremony for this project took place in June 2023, jointly organized by Bucher Emhart Glass and AME Elite.
