The state-owned companies, Indonesian Power and PLN together did a feasibility study on Larantuka Traits conducted by UK’s tidal energy companies, SBS International and SBS Indonesia.
The study took three-month to determine the feasibility of the tidal energy resource. The feasibility study is to help determine the growth of MW-scale tidal turbine generators that provide power to eastern Indonesian, especially East Flores and Adanora.
The 220-page feasibility report includes survey and data analysis reports. According to SBS Group Chairman, Michael Spenser, the report was the fourth study on Indonesian tidal energy resources and the most comprehensive one.
Spenser added: “The next stage is to discuss a draft PPA document received from PLN; agree terms and conditions; and together deliver a fully-executed PPA document, after which we expect to announce FID with interested British and European Investors and commence procurement for the FEED activity.”
