DS Smith Rapak Thailand, an arm of UK listed DS Smith Plastics, has opened a new facility in Chachoengsao, a province in south-central Thailand, east of Bangkok.
The new facility, which specializes in liquid bag-in box packaging and filling systems, is located 20 minutes from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport, and is positioned to service customers in the South East Asian region by reducing lead-times, lower inventories and freight costs.
Rapak’s factory has been built to the highest standards including clean-room environments for bag manufacturing. The factory will manufacture aseptic bag-in box products, which can be used in emerging market segments, including food service and quick service restaurants.
Bag-in-Box packaging solutions are expected to continue to grow as customers and end-users become more familiar with its demonstrated environmental credentials, variety of dispensing applications and cost advantages over other traditional forms of liquid packaging.
