The Board of Investments (BOI) has approved Monde Nissin Corporation’s USD 21.78 milion investment in a new biscuit manufacturing facility in Davao City. The facility, located in Barangay Ilang, Bunawan, is dedicated to producing butter coconut biscuits and is expected to commence commercial operations this month, generating 111 regular jobs in the region.
The new factory will primarily serve the Visayas and Mindanao markets, with plans to expand distribution to Indonesia and other Southeast Asian countries. This initiative marks a significant step in Monde Nissin’s regional expansion strategy, complementing its existing manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, which supplies the Luzon market.
Utilizing advanced automation technology, the Davao facility will streamline production and packaging processes, requiring a highly skilled workforce to manage the mechanized operations. The investment aims to modernize the biscuit production process, with a focus on enhancing efficiency and output. Previously, the packaging process for butter coconut biscuits was done manually, but the new facility will fully automate this step, boosting productivity.
The BOI expects the project to stimulate the movement of raw materials and finished goods in southern regions, further driving economic activity in Davao and nearby areas. Monde Nissin’s expansion highlights its commitment to leveraging innovation to meet growing domestic and international demand.
