The Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) selected 9 companies, namely Singapore based Group IB, Secure IC, Acronis, Amaris.AI, Scantist, SecureAge and InsiderSecurity as well as multinationals EY Advisory and Emerson, from 87 submissions in the second call for innovation launched by CSA and Singaporean venture capital firm TNB Ventures. The solutions proposed by the 9 companies must be ready for testing and deployment within 2 years.
Each of the nine companies will receive up to USD 1 million in order to build systems that will help Singapore shore up the defense of critical sectors such as energy, healthcare or defense and also new and emerging areas like driverless vehicles. The stepped-up measure to build such systems come after the largest data breach involving personal data with the 1.5 million SingHealth patient’s data accessed in 2018.
Some companies will develop capabilities such as cryptographic and AI systems focused on securing data and detecting threats to be used by companies such as SingHealth, YTL PowerSeray or PSA Corporation among others. Others, like Group IB, will focus on a AI driven investigation software that will help law enforcement agencies uncover hidden connections in the Dark Web, in order to prevent cyber crimes against critical sectors in Singapore.
